Emergency Information

All students are required to have current emergency information on file in the school office in compliance with the State of California Department of Social Services directives. Parents must notify the office immediately if any of the information changes.

Sick Policy

Our policy is implemented with the best interests of all children, parents, and staff members in mind. We expect students to be in good health and able to participate in activities. Parents should keep their children at home if they develop symptoms (fever of 100.4 degrees F, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.). If a child becomes sick, we will notify the parents immediately. We request that the child be free of fever, diarrhea, or vomiting for 24 hours before they return to school. Parents must provide a statement from their physician before students can be brought back to school after being exposed, when they develop communicable diseases (e.g., pink eye, measles, chicken pox etc.), or after being absent from school for three consecutive days.

Medication Procedure

Only prescription medication will be administered by the school employees. Parents must fill out a Medication Authorization Form stating the name of the medication, dosage, and administration instructions. All medicines must be in their original container, clearly labeled with the student’s name, medication name, dosage amount and how often it should be administered. The school assumes no responsibility for any adverse reactions that may be caused by the administration of prescription medications. No over the counter medicines will be administered by a staff member. Students may not keep any prescription drugs or any medicines in their backpacks, on their person, or at their desk at any time.

Injuries

We follow OSHA protocol. Our teachers are First Aid /CPR certified.

If a student sustains an injury on the school campus, a staff member will assess the injury and administer appropriate first aid. The staff member will complete a Student Incident Report and provide the parents with a copy. Parents must sign the Student Incident Report on the day of the injury. If the student’s injury is significant, parents will be contacted immediately to determine the appropriate course of action. If parents are unavailable, emergency services will be contacted. The injured student will be kept in the office under observation until parents or emergency assistance arrives.
